incredible “linsanity” run from usf
The USF Bulls' incredible start to the season comes to an end with a 49-12 loss to the fifth-ranked Miami Hurricanes.
USF kicked off its season on the blue turf in Boise with a big 34-7 win against number 25-ranked Boise State. Boise State had an incredible 2024 season where they made the playoffs, but lost Heisman trophy finalist Ashton Jeanty to the NFL draft.
They added a second straight win against a ranked opponent with an 18-16 victory against the thirteenth-ranked Florida Gators at “the swamp” in Gainesville.
The defense dominated the first two games. They only allowed a total of 23 points against two potent offenses.
Quarterback Byrum Brown has been the shining star for the Bulls early in this season. His ability to escape the pocket and use his legs to extend plays has been lethal for opposing defenses. He has 747 passing yards and 111 rushing yards over the first three games. He has also added four total touchdowns.
Brown was held in check in the loss to Miami. He rushed for only two yards, but had his highest passing total of 274 yards. Although it was his highest yardage total, it was his least efficient game of the season. He finished with only a 55.6% completion percentage, after being above 63% in his first two games.
Although the loss to Miami was tough for the Bulls, two wins on the road against ranked opponents could hold a lot of weight at the end of the year when it comes to deciding which group of five team makes the College Football Playoff.
