utsa roadrunners
The UTSA Roadrunners season has now come to an end after a loss to UCLA. The Roadrunners had a historic season as they were two wins away from going to the College World Series for the first time in program history.
They exceeded all reasonable expectations this season. They put up a 47-15 record, and appeared in the University of Texas regional. The Roadrunners were 0-6 in regionals through the program's history, but that didn’t stop them from marching into Austin and taking down the in-state rival Texas Longhorns.
Not only was UTSA an underdog, but The Longhorns were ranked as a top five team in the country. They defeated Texas 9-7 on Saturday, then came right back and beat them again 7-4 on Sunday to advance.
The Roadrunners took on the UCLA Bruins for their first super regional in program history. They jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in game one, but UCLA put up five unanswered runs to win 5-2. UCLA dominated game two with a 7-0 win; ending the Roadrunners season.
