Florida Panthers continue reign as champions
The Florida Panthers defeat the Edmonton Oilers in six games to take home the 2025 Stanley Cup. Florida defeated Edmonton in seven games a year ago to win the 2024 Stanley Cup.
Despite the losing effort in 2024, Oilers star Connor Mcdavid won the Conn Smythe trophy. The Conn Smythe is given to the most outstanding player during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This season the trophy was given to Sam Bennett of the Panthers. Bennett was the playoffs leading scoring with 15 goals.
The Panthers dominated offensively after game one. They scored five or more goals in the final five games of the series.
Deadline acquisition Brad Marchand played a vital role in the Panthers domination as he had a total of 20 points, and a +17. His helped propel them to victories in games two and five, with two goals in each game.
The Panthers will look to join the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, and New York Islanders as the only teams to win the Stanley Cup three years straight.
